Whether this product suits a buying plan depends on its use case, target customer, order quantity and destination market. Separate essential requirements from optional features so suppliers can respond clearly and quotations are easier to compare.

Build a comparable product brief

Put the important parameters in one RFQ brief, using values, ranges, units and acceptable tolerances where possible. State which items are mandatory and where alternatives are acceptable.

Review samples and quality

Where dimensions, finish, materials or performance may vary, request a sample, specification sheet or clear product photographs during sourcing. Check the sample against the agreed brief and record any changes. Before production, confirm the approved sample, packaging and inspection criteria.

When comparing quotations, confirm the exact configuration, quantity break, packaging and delivery basis behind each price. A unit price without a matching specification is not an apples-to-apples comparison.

Check destination-market requirements

Requirements for product safety, labels, plugs, voltage, materials, testing documents and import paperwork vary by country. Identify the sales market and use case in the RFQ, then verify applicable rules, certifications and import conditions with the buyer or a qualified local adviser.

Before requesting a quote

Prepare the product name and reference, key specifications, estimated quantity, destination country, packaging preferences and target timing. Include required certifications or test documents where applicable.
